Your Dallas weekend, sorted

THE WEEKEND DROP · DALLAS

Thursdays at 5 p.m. Central we open the Weekend Drop: three curated plans for Friday through Sunday in Dallas, released together so you can build your weekend before it starts. One for Friday. One for Saturday. One for Sunday. And the whole city’s neighborhoods on the map, so you’re not doing Uptown three nights in a row.

No more Sunday-scaries scroll through five Instagram accounts. No more “you should have seen this yesterday” texts. If you’re in the app when the Drop opens, you have the first RSVP window. If you’re not, you catch it in the queue.

The Friday pick

Friday is the release-valve night. Our Friday picks lean live-music-and-a-back-patio: a Deep Ellum room worth the drive (Trees, RBC, The Nines, Ruins on the good weeks), a Design District listening bar, or a Fort Worth Cultural District opening night when the timing is right. The kind of Friday where you leave the office at 6:15 and you’re in the room by 8:30 without a spreadsheet.

Each Friday card ships with the door time, the cover (or that there isn’t one), and the friend badges — how many of your people are already RSVP’d, plus any friend-of-a-friend the graph can vouch for. Show up alone; walk out with people.

The Saturday pick

Saturday is the anchor. We reserve it for the plan that could hold an entire evening — a dinner-then-drinks route through Bishop Arts, a full-throttle Uptown rooftop night, a Fort Worth Stockyards stop-and-linger, a State Fair evening in season. If you only do one thing this weekend, we’re building the Saturday to be that one.

Saturday picks are the highest-RSVP night in the Drop, and the friend graph shows up hardest here. It’s the night that gets your group text alive again.

The Sunday pick

Sunday is the recovery-but-still-out pick. Something Katy Trail-adjacent, a Lakewood or East Dallas brunch that isn’t a wait list, a matinee at the Kessler, a Nasher or Kimbell afternoon, a slow patio at White Rock. Nothing that costs you Monday.

Sunday picks are also where our first-timer badges cluster. If you’ve never been to a Drop, Sunday is the softest landing. Lower stakes, longer conversation.

Neighborhood by neighborhood

Dallas is not a city, it’s fifteen. Every Weekend Drop is built to move you across the map — never three picks in Uptown, never three picks in Deep Ellum, and never a Sunday you have to drive to Frisco for. Neighborhoods you’ll see across a typical month:

  • Deep Ellum — live music, speakeasies, late-night. The city’s Thursday-through-Saturday engine.
  • Bishop Arts — small rooms, walkable dinner-then-drinks. Best patio density south of the river.
  • Uptown — the rooftop and the wine bar. Katy Trail on the shoulder days.
  • Lower Greenville — Cured, Blind Butcher, HG Sply, Truck Yard. A block you can build a whole night on.
  • Design District & Trinity Groves — listening bars, gallery openings, the Trinity River overlook. Underrated on weeknights.
  • Fort Worth Cultural District & Stockyards — the once-a-month drive that’s always worth it. Kimbell, Modern, Billy Bob’s, Second Rodeo.
  • Lakewood, East Dallas, White Rock — Sunday’s home turf. Longer light, quieter menus.

Save it for later

Any Drop pick you don’t RSVP to slides into your Later feed and re-surfaces when the venue does something new. Your Later feed is yours. It doesn’t reset when your subscription lapses, and it doesn’t get sold to a data broker. If you cancel, the list stays. If you come back six months later, it’s still there.

The Later feed is also where our first-timer badge lives — a small tag on any event where more than half the RSVPs are new to SSC. Sunday picks tend to accumulate first-timer badges. Which means Sunday is the day of the week SSC most feels like the app it’s supposed to be.

How the Drop works

Weekend Drops open Thursdays at 5 p.m. Central. Founding members ($6.99/mo, locked to your account for life) get a fifteen-minute head start. Standard tier ($12.99/mo) sees the Drop at 5:15. Free tier can view the Drop and its attendees any time, and RSVP to one Drop pick per month.

RSVPs close when the venue’s cap does. Some picks fill Thursday night. Some sit open until Saturday. We publish the current cap on the card so you’re not guessing.

Cancel any RSVP up to two hours before the event with no penalty. Cancel your subscription any time, two taps, from Settings — we email you three days before every renewal. If you’d like to see how the friend graph decides who’s already going, read the Dallas page.

Weekly write-up

Every Thursday morning we publish a full write-up of the coming weekend’s picks — the room, the reason, the parking, the vibe check. It lives on the blog under Weekend Guides and is linked from the top of the Drop in-app. If you want more context than the card gives you, that’s where to look.
